E1 Electrical partnered on a commercial demising project within an occupied strip mall in Calgary, delivering a complex electrical upgrade to support the conversion of a 7,800 square foot single-story space into two separate levels. The project required a full reconfiguration of electrical services to accommodate new tenant requirements, while maintaining operations for existing businesses.

Working as a supporting partner, our scope included upgrading the existing tenant service with a new 600V panel, transformer, and 208V distribution, adding a second tenant service, extending the fire alarm system into the new space, and providing power and life safety systems for a new elevator installation. All work was performed within an active building, requiring careful coordination to route feeders and fire alarm circuits through three operating businesses without disruption.

A major component of the project involved rebuilding the main service switchgear. In collaboration with Eaton, who performed the modification under our contract, the existing switchgear was reworked by altering the busbar and adding capacity within the existing equipment. This approach eliminated the need for a full replacement, avoiding extended shutdowns and delivering significant cost and time savings to the owner.

Fire alarm integration presented an additional layer of complexity. The existing system was a legacy conventional setup, while the new areas required modern addressable devices. E1 Electrical sourced and implemented compatible devices that allowed the conventional system to remain operational while extending protection into the new spaces. Throughout the project, the fire alarm system remained fully functional, maintaining life safety compliance at all times.

Through detailed planning, proactive coordination, and close collaboration with suppliers and trades, E1 Electrical supported the successful execution of a technically challenging upgrade within a fully occupied environment. The result was a modernized electrical and life safety system, delivered without disruption to existing tenants or building operations.

E1 Electrical partnered with the client on the design-build delivery of a 63,000 square foot multi-service pet facility in Calgary. The project brought together retail, veterinary services, boarding, indoor play areas, and animal rehabilitation into a single, highly coordinated environment.

Working as the electrical design partner, our team collaborated closely with the general contractor, architect, ownership group, and electrical engineering team from early concept through to final construction. Our scope included electrical design development, coordinated drawing production, engineering review integration, and full execution of the installation.

Speed to market and delivering a high-quality end-user experience were the client’s primary objectives. Leveraging a design-build approach allowed construction to begin once drawings reached a workable stage, while still providing flexibility to refine and adapt the design as the project progressed. This approach enabled faster decision-making and reduced delays typically associated with traditional design-bid-build projects.

Throughout construction, E1 Electrical supported ongoing design evolution, including significant late-stage changes such as the addition of a full CT imaging system. This required the development and installation of a dedicated electrical distribution solution to meet specific voltage and performance requirements, all without impacting the overall project schedule.

By maintaining close coordination with all project stakeholders and adapting quickly to changing requirements, E1 Electrical helped deliver a complex, multi-use facility aligned with the client’s timeline and performance expectations.

E1 Electrical was engaged to support the removal and replacement of three large pieces of manufacturing equipment within an active production facility in Calgary. Working directly with the client and alongside the equipment manufacturer, our team was responsible for safely disconnecting existing equipment, relocating control and power systems, and completing final terminations once the new equipment was installed.

Given the critical nature of the assembly line, the project was driven by a strict shutdown window requiring 12-hour shifts over six consecutive days, including weekend work. Maintaining this schedule was the client’s top priority, as any delays would directly impact production.

To support this timeline, E1 Electrical provided flexible labour and material pricing, allowing us to quickly respond to evolving site conditions without slowing progress. As the equipment manufacturer did not have access to local suppliers, our team also sourced and supplied additional materials on short notice, ensuring installation work could continue uninterrupted.

Through proactive coordination, responsive decision-making, and a commitment to meeting the project schedule, all electrical work was completed within the required timeframe. The result was a seamless equipment transition that allowed production to resume as planned, with minimal disruption to operations.
